Homemade Taco Seasoning

When I’m not in the mood to cook an all out meal our usual go-to is either breakfast food or tacos. We always have hard/soft shells in the pantry and can usually find the other ingredients in the fridge, sometimes the meat ends up being ground chicken, beef or pork.

Because I’m gluten free I buy these shells: http://www.missionmenus.com/en/products/view/mission-yellow-corn-taco-shells They’re delicious! When I first bought them, I opened the box and realized it didn’t come with the taco seasoning kit. Oh no! Time to create my own!

I’ve tweaked this recipe a few different times and it now has the perfect amount of kick *for us*. Let me know what you think! These measurements aren’t exact. Give or take a dash here or there depending on your tastebuds.

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon chili powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Combine all ingredients and add to 1 lb. of meat. If you double/triple/quadruple the recipe be sure to store it in an airtight container!
